Cracked Corian worktop repairs by Surface Repair Specialists.

Corian is a brand of solid surface material created by DuPont. Its primary use is as a countertop and benchtop surface, though it has many other applications. It is composed of acrylic polymer and alumina trihydrate, a material derived from bauxite ore. Corian is the original material of this type, created by DuPont scientists in 1967. A number of direct solid surface competitors to Corian have emerged since the expiration of DuPont’s patent on solid surfaces.

Cracked Corian worktops are becoming more constant in these modern times due to the fast-growing popularity of this product.

Dupont has many intricate designs and an increased amount of original patterns and effects. Surface scratches, chips, cracked corian repairs and miss drilled holes are repairs that technicians repair on a regular basis, some other repairs that we carry out are:

  • Burns Created by hot items, frying pans, saucepans, hot coffee machines are typical items that cause cracks and can even melt or cause a burn stain on a Corian worktop.

  • Cutlery, knife marks are common repairs.

  • Bleach can cause stains on Corian although some salespeople may state that it doesn't.

  • Wear and tear on the Corian surface can cause the surface to dull down over time.

  • Heavy scratching from dragging heavy objects over Corian can occur when tradespeople don't pay attention to what they are doing.

Avoiding repairs

Cracked corian repairs

  • Never cut or chop directly onto the surface – use a chopping board

  • Don’t place hot or heavy pans directly on your worktops

  • Keep abrasive chemicals and foods away from surfaces

  • Avoid letting boiling water come into contact with your surfaces

  • Regularly clean your worktops and carry out proper maintenance

How to clean Corain

Avoid using window cleaners on your Corian® worktops, as they can leave a waxy residue that will dull the surface.

For most substances, warm soapy water, an ammonia-based household cleaner, or a dedicated worktop cleaner will be enough for cleaning your Corian® countertops. Always clean with a lint-free cloth, using a circular motion.

If water is left to dry on the surface, a film will build up and dull the surface.

Over time, the finish will appear blemished and patchy. T

o prevent watermarks, water should be wiped up immediately from the surface.

Use a lint-free cloth in a circular motion to ensure the surface is polished dry.

Over time, your countertop will gain a sheen to its surface.
